What Causes Tremors or Shaking?

Sometimes your entire body or parts of your body like arms, hands, feet, legs, stomach, chest, back, head, or buttocks may feel shaky or vibrating. Anxiety is the reason that causes tremors. By using only your breathing, you can calm your body. This is a simple way to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Parasympathetic system suppresses the fight or flight response.  By taking a slow deep breath you can help your body to return to a calmer state.

When you are anxious then your body releases adrenaline and your body start to shake. Slow down your breath. This will help stop that flood of stress hormones and reduce the body shaking.

The breathing technique is very simple.

  1. Breath into your belly from your nose for a count of four
  2. Hold your breath for a short time
  3. Then breath out again slowly from your mouth for a count of four

It sounds easy but needs practice.  No doubt, just relaxation breathing can help you to reduce anxiety.

2. Do One Minute Breathing Meditation for Anxiety

Meditation for anxiety can help you relax and de-stress. You may think that it may require much time. But the reality is that even one-minute relaxation meditation that focuses on your breathing can help you to turn your attention from the causes of your anxiety, making the shakes go away.

3. Walking

Any exercise will help to reduce your anxiety and its symptoms. Walking is good exercise for mental health. It is an easy activity that can be done almost anywhere. Make a routine of a daily outside walk. This will be more beneficial for your health.

4. Physical Exercise

Physical exercise helps to release Endorphins. This hormone actually uses as an outlet’ for all that pent-up energy. Exercise is a great way to decrease symptoms of anxiety.

How to Deal with Anxiety?

If you find yourself anxious every day and your body is shaking due to an anxiety attack. Then you must find stress- reduction habits and incorporate them into your regular routine. Yoga, massage, good sleep, and a healthy diet are some of the ways to deal with anxiety.

Yoga is best to alleviate the symptoms of anxiety. Because many of the moves of yoga help stretch your muscles. It can relieve excess adrenaline. As a result, you will feel relax. By practicing yoga regularly, you can manage your nerves.

b. Massage for Anxiety

Stress relief massage also helps to keep down the levels of stress hormones. If you do your foot massage daily for just five minutes only, you will feel much better.  Or you can have this massage from a professional as a stress reduction strategy. Or you can ask a friend or a partner to trade massages with you instead of paying of massages.

Foot massage is very easy. Just take little oil in your hand and rub the sole of your feet especially toes of feet. you will feel relaxed and you will have a sound sleep.

c. Anxiety and Sleep

Life is too busy that we often miss good sleep. We often forget how important sleep is for a healthy life. Symptoms of chronic anxiety especially shaking get worse if you are not getting enough sleep. It is very important to have a good sleep for seven or eight hours daily at night. You will notice that your issues of anxiety and shaking are dramatically reduced.

d. Foods that Help with Anxiety

Junk food, irregular meals, and carbonated drinks disturb your digestive system. Unhealthy lifestyle makes your life disturbed and restless. Restlessness increase your anxiety and stress level.

Make a routine of regular meals. It is very important to have a home-cooked meal. Intake of water is very important plus decrease the use of caffeine. Fresh vegetables and fruits will improve your hormonal level, Hemoglobin level and enlighten your mood.

See your primary care physician rule out any medical cause for uncontrolled shaking. Maybe there is any other medical condition for this shaking beside symptoms of anxiety.

All of the above-listed tips are safe to try for most of the people who have social anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder. It is better to rule out the cause of body tremors. Consult your doctor to find out the possible cause and let him suggest specific treatment for your anxiety symptoms. Otherwise, talk to a mental health professional who will help you to learn ways to manage your anxiety and stop shaking from anxiety.

    Oh great ….. what a sigh of relief. This anxiety just trench out all of my energy. Whenever i have to face people in office, i started trembling, especially shaking hands made me embarrass.
